Drowning Safety Awareness
Florida leads the nation in drowning deaths every year. Many occur in home swimming pools. In Florida drowning is leading cause of accidental death among children aged one to four. Two year olds are the most frequent victims.
Lee County Public Safety Spokeswoman Diane Holm says the most important thing parents and others can do is create what she calls ‘layers of prevention’.

Joys of Adoption Conference
November is National Adoption Month and according to the most recent numbers from the Federal Government about 7,000 children in foster care in Florida are waiting to be adopted. The Children's Network of Southwest Florida recently held its 4th annual Joys of Adoption Conference highlighting the great need for adoptive families in the area. WGCU's Andrea McCrary reports.
