EMS Ride Along
This
Labor Day there are extra police patrols on the roads and emergency
crews are on alert. Imagine working 12 or 24 hour shifts - taking
quick naps in between – eating on the run – and often dealing with
severe injuries and death. This is a typical day for people who work
in the emergency medical services field. Their heroic efforts and
their stress are often escalated on a holiday weekend. WGCU’s Luis
Hernandez recently took a ride with some Lee County EMS workers and has
this report.

Healthcare Roundtable
The Fort Myers News-Press held a healthcare overhaul roundtable last week. It invited nearly two dozen people who have a stake in the debate for a brainstorming session focused on three questions: what’s wrong with the health care system now? What can be done to fix it? And how do we effectively communicate these concepts to the public? WGCU’s Amy Tardif was there and has this report.
