Voters Weigh In

With its 27 electoral votes Florida is a battleground state in the race for the White House. The Sunshine State has a slim majority of registered Democrats - but was instrumental in putting George Bush in office twice. Seminole Case Rehearing Request Denied

The Florida Supreme Court has denied Governor Charlie Crist's request for a rehearing in the Seminole tribal case. As James Call reports, the ruling makes final the high court’s July decision invalidating a gambling compact between the Governor’s office and the tribe.

Gas Prices and Gouging

Gas prices have shot up at some stations in Florida as concern spreads about what Hurricane Ike could mean for the nation’s fuel supply. But Florida's Attorney General says he’s concerned about possible price gouging - and yesterday issued subpoenas to four companies. Michael Hibblen has more from Miami.

U-S Sugar Deal Deadline Extended

The giant land deal intended to help preserve The Everglades is taking longer than expected. As James Call reports, negotiations for the state to buy U.S. Sugar Corporation’s property south of Lake Okeechobee will continue past the November 30th deadline first set by Governor Charlie Crist.
