Justice Charles Canady

Governor Charlie Crist made his first appointment to Florida’s High Court yesterday. Judge Charles Canady will fill the vacancy left by Justice Raoul Cantero who resigned earlier in the year. Lynn Hatter reports.

DCF Summit

And event called “The Dependency Summit” kicked off yesterday in Orlando with a rousing speech by the recently-resigned Secretary of the Department of Children and Families, Bob Butterworth – who urged child welfare leaders to –quote “keep it going.” Florida Public Radio’s Margie Menzel reports.

Amendment 5

The Florida Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Amendment 5 dispute on Sept. 3rd. As James Call reports, earlier this month, a circuit court judge ordered the so-called tax swap amendment off the November ballot, saying it was misleading on several fronts.

Clewiston After U-S Sugar?

What will happen to "America’s Sweetest Town" once U.S. Sugar sells 187-thousand acres of land in Clewiston, along with two refineries and other assets, to the state?
