Back Pumping Follow Up

The South Florida Water Management District’s decision not to pump water from farms back into Lake Okeechobee has spawned a dire warning from the Agriculture industry and some state officials. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has more.

Back Pumping Denied

Water managers decided yesterday NOT to pump polluted farm runoff back into Lake Okeechobee, spurring pleas from growers who say the pumping is an essential step to combat the effects of the ongoing drought. Cristela Guerra reports.

Heat

Public health officials are warning residents and visitors to beware of heat exhaustion as mid day temperatures in Southwest Florida reach the mid 90’s. Four firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion Tuesday while working a house fire in Cape Coral. WGCU’s Valerie Alker has more.

Publix Free Antibiotics

Publix pharmacies now offer free oral antibiotics at all 600 of the grocer's stores, including here in Florida. The seven drugs on the list account for almost half the generic pediatric prescriptions filled by Publix pharmacies. WGCU's Luis Hernandez reports.
