Paige Kreegel

Punta Gorda Republican Representative Paige Kreegel has been appointed to chair the House Energy Committee. The appointment comes after Republican Representative Bob Allen of Merritt Island was stripped of his leadership positions after allegedly soliciting prostitution from a male, undercover police officer. Little Salt Spring Archeology

The picture of Florida’s pre-history is being reshaped by artifacts archeologists are removing from Little Salt Springs in North Port. Last week they found a piece of wood believed to be nine thousand years old. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has more.

MENSA In Southwest Florida

The Southwest Florida Chapter of Mensa is thriving, meeting every two weeks – discussing brainy topics. The Mensa Society formed in 1946 when two strangers on a train travelling through the English countryside, a lawyer and a medical researcher, struck up a conversation. They enjoyed themselves so much they decided to start a club. The social organization for smart people now claims more than 100 thousand members in 100 countries. WGCU’s Valerie Alker recently attended a local Mensa meeting and has this report.

Sunshine Questions

More than a dozen members of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce announced Friday that they are looking into recent controversial actions by the Collier County School Board. The board fired, and then immediately found a candidate to replace the school superintendent. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has this report about possible Sunshine law violations.
