Methyl Iodide Approved in Florida

Earlier this month the Florida Department of Agriculture approved the use of methyl iodide as a crop pesticide. The chemical is hailed as a substitute for the ozone-depleting soil fumigant, methyl bromide. While growers welcome the new pesticide, some scientists and farm worker advocates say the chemical isn't safe. WGCU's John Davis has more.

L-28 Weir

The Everglades received another push toward restoration this week. It’s part of a collaborative effort between the South Florida Water Management District and the Miccosukee Indian Tribe. Zero Tolerance Policies

Schools are cracking down on bad behavior, but according to the Department of Juvenile Justice, they may be getting too tough. As Lynn Hatter reports, the Department is hosting a summit in August to look at so-called “zero tolerance policies”.
