Farm to Fuel Summit

Florida agriculture officials are trying to distance the state’s ethanol production initiative from the debate over ethanol’s impact on food prices.
The state’s fledgling ethanol industry is the main topic of discussion today at the third annual Farm-to-Fuel summit in Orlando. Judith Smelser reports.

Housing Bill Receives Mixed Reviews

President Bush signed a measure into law yesterday to address foreclosures and the nation’s troubled mortgage giants Fannie and Freddie Mac…and Florida is slated to receive some of the financial aid. But not everyone believes the legislation will live up to its expectations. And some say it’s just smoke and mirrors. Lynn Hatter reports.

FPL Cancels its Sunshine Energy Program

The state’s Utility regulators voted this week to terminate a more than eleven million dollar program run by Florida Power and Light which was supposed to promote green energy. As Trimmel Gomes reports the bulk of that money was spent on marketing the program.

Unitarian Service in SWFL

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers held a service Tuesday night to honor and support the victims of Saturday’s shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville. The service was led by Allison Farnum, who just joined the congregation as its new minister. Farnum attended the church in Knoxville growing up…her mother was there on Saturday when the shooting occurred. She told WGCU’s Valerie Alker the congregation is coping…

Florida’s Delegates

Florida’s top Democratic and Republican officials are confident their delegations will be seated in full at the parties’ presidential nominating conventions later this summer.
