Soapfest

Soapfest returns to Marco Island this weekend.  Daytime drama stars will attend a number of  events raising funds for local children’s charities. The fundraisers include an auction – and the auctioneer is Walt Willey – who’s played Jackson Montgomery on the ABC Soap Opera” All My Children” for more than twenty years. We talked to Walt Willey about soaps  then and now.

Salvation Army

This is National Salvation Army Week – so named by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1965.  Last year the Salvation Army of Lee Hendry and Glades Counties provided food to thousands of people.  It also runs a successful faith based substance abuse rehabilitation program.  WGCU’s Valerie Alker talked to Major Ann Penhale about the Army’s evolving mission.  Penhale is 25 year veteran who’s worked her way up the ranks.
