Honoring Southwest Florida’s Pioneering Doctors
Lee Memorial Health System is honoring a group of Pioneering Physicians this evening for their dedication and service. These early doctors came to southwest Florida in the 1950’s and 60’s by way of a 2-lane highway or flights into Page Field in Fort Myers, and often brought new medical skills and specialties with them. Lee Memorial media producer Mark Johnson interviewed more than 20 of them and has put together a video, which will be shown for the first time at tonight’s event in Fort Myers. He told WGCU’s Mike Kiniry it was a different world in those days…

Immokalee Dance Project
An Atlanta area choreographer will be directing a performance in Southwest Florida next month. The featured dancers are elementary and middle school students from the Immokalee area. The dance itself is based on the stories of the people of Immokalee. WGCU’s Andrea McCrary sat in during a rehearsal at Lake Trafford Elementary and reports on their work.

The Future of Classic Cars
Sometimes one can find classic car lovers gathered in parking lots sitting around their cars bragging to anyone who wants to catch a glimpse. They listen for whose engine revs the loudest and ogle over whose car is the most attractive. But we’re not talking about teenagers showing off racy sports cars – but southwest Floridians aged 65 and older who are keeping the classic car tradition alive and well. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has this report on the future of these classic cars…
