Randy Thomas Voice of the Oscars

At first glance one may not recognize Fort Myers resident Randy Thomas. But the moment she speaks the picture changes. Thomas is a voice over professional. Working from her studio in her home she lends her voice to television programs and broadcast commercials. This Sunday she’ll be the voice of the 80th annual Academy Awards. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez recently talked with her about the fact this was her seventh time voicing the Oscars…and just how she became one of television’s most recognized voices.

Attorney General Bill McCullum together with State Senator Paula Dockery and State Representative David Rivera have unveiled a new bill that would broaden protections for victims of child pornography. Lynn Hatter has more.

A Conversation with Nola Theiss

Nola Thiess is back from a trip to the “U-N Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking Conference” in Vienna, Austria. Thiess is the Executive Director of the Human Trafficking Awareness Partnership. She’s also heading up the local Esperanza Project which brings Florida Gulf Coast University and Lee County law enforcement together to fight the growing problem of human trafficking in southwest Florida. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez talked with Thiess about her trip and some of the newest information on the fight against human trafficking.
