Solar Teaching Array

A
solar array was installed yesterday at L.A. Ainger Middle School in
Rotonda West.  It’s there to power classrooms and teach students.

Citrus Greening Update

A
century ago children looked forward to getting an orange in their
Christmas stocking – a treat many enjoyed just once a year.  After
World War II the Florida citrus industry took off and many baby boomers
grew up starting their day with a glass of O.J.  Now the rarity that
became a commodity is threatened by a major epidemic.  WGCU’s Valerie
Alker reports.

The University of Florida IFAS Extension Program is hosting the first of what they hope will be many energy sustainability shows on Friday. The main goal is to hear ideas from the public. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez reports.

Bruce Gora Remembered

An event celebrating the life and art of a longtime Fort Myers resident is being held Saturday night at 7:00 at the Lee County Alliance of the Arts campus in Fort Myers. Bruce Gora was an architect, photographer and musician…he designed the Alliance campus and several other well-known buildings in Lee County. The evening will feature Gora’s photographs, architectural and community accomplishments...as well as live music. Longtime friend and Alliance board member Katherine Boren is chairing the event…she told WGCU’s Mike Kiniry that Gora was truly a renaissance man…
