Habitat’s 300,000th Home
Habitat for Humanity’s origins are seeded in Koinonia Farm near Americus, GA. It began in the 1940s as an interracial, Christian farming community. They built small, no-profit, no-interest homes for the people living within the community. Then in 1976 Millard and Linda Fullard formed Habitat for Humanity based on that model. And just recently the worldwide organization built its 300-thousandth house...in Collier County. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez was there and has this report.

Farmer’s Almanac Editor Janice Stillwell
South Florida has been experiencing record breaking low temperatures for this time of year. The abrupt change from summer-like conditions to chilling cold caught many people by surprise. But readers of the Old Farmer’s Almanac possibly took their socks out of mothballs early. The Almanac’s 2009 edition – which came out a couple months ago - calls for a particularly cold winter. The Almanac’s Editor, Janice Stillwell, told WGCU’s Valerie Alker its weather forecasts define the publication which has been around since 1792.
