Susan Rice in Tallahassee

Some say no state is more crucial to the outcome of the presidential election than Florida. Senator Barack Obama’s foreign policy advisor Susan Rice stopped in Tallahassee Thursday to talk about Obama’s plan to get the U.S. back in good standing with the rest of the world. Lynn Hatter reports.

Distressed Pelicans Workshop

A group of about 20 people gathered at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples Thursday to learn what may seem like a strange skill: pelican catching. WGCU’s Mike Kiniry was there and has this report.

Mamie Holst at the Rauschenberg Gallery

The Rauschenberg Gallery in Fort Myers opens an exhibition of paintings by Guggenheim Fellow, Mamie Holst on Friday. Holst's work has been exhibited around the world, but her career as an artist started here in Southwest Florida. WGCU's John Davis has more.

Voting Foreclosure Fraud

The community organizing group that’s been in the news lately because of voter registration fraud concerns is warning Floridians not to be victims of what’s called foreclosure voting fraud. ACORN says the state’s high rate of foreclosures could make it a target for voting purges. Lynn Hatter reports.

Part of Governor Charlie Crist’s bold air pollution goal was to copy California’s stricter standards to reduce the amount of Carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. Florida’s Environmental Regulation commission will vote on those standards next week, and both sides are gearing up for the debate. Trimmel Gomes reports.

Alan Crotzer Pardoned

Wrongly convicted of rape and robbery, Alan Crotzer has already received 1.2 million dollars in compensation from the state of Florida, and now he’s been pardoned and has had his record expunged for two other crimes. As James Call reports Governor Charlie Crist made the motion, even though the Supreme Court says the board cannot grant such authority.
