The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel Island celebrates it’s 40th anniversary this Sunday (Jan 25th) with the opening of the new Healing Winds Visitors Center and a new facility in which to care for injured wildlife. WGCU’s John Davis went to the clinic and has this report.

There was dancing and singing in the streets in Ft. Myers Monday as hundreds of people turned out for the annual freedom march commemorating the life of the late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. And of course this year’s march was on the eve of Barack Obama’s swearing in as the nation’s first African American president. So, the question WGCU’s Valerie Alker asked was “has Martin Luther King’s dream been realized”

Southwest Florida has become a hotbed of interest in Jatropha; a plant that some believe could become the next big biodiesel fuel source. But environmental advocacy groups don’t want Jatropha farms in Florida. WGCU’s John Davis has more.
