Marco Island History

Some of the most important artifacts in American archaeology were discovered more than a century ago on Marco Island. Today, the island’s residents want to bring attention to both the ancient and modern history of the region. Recently a Marco couple donated one and a half million dollars toward a fundraising campaign to build a history museum on the island. And as Bill Dudley reports and others are doing it in a more unique fashion.

Republican Debate at FAU

Whatever the national verdict on last night's Repubican candidates' debate at Florida Atlantic University, it was Mike Huckabee's night in a small auditorium on the F-A-U campus. Birding Magazine Editor Ted Floyd

The editor of Birding Magazine is in Southwest Florida this week. Ted Floyd spoke Wednesday night at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, and leads a field trip on Thursday. It’s his first visit to the area. Floyd told WGCU’s Valerie Alker he began making notes about birds as a teenager in the early 1980’s – and since then his passion has been taken up by many others.

FGCU Gender Equity Investigation
