Center Co-Founder and Artistic Director Bella Gutshtein, who’s from St. Petersburg, Russia, says she feels it’s the right time for this.
“The language is beautiful. And it’s very deep in its imagery and I think today is the day to share it with a global environmental. I’m one who was born there and I know the essence of the culture,” she says.
Gushtein says the Cultural Center also wants to help families with adopted children from Russia.
“To help them with their new addition to the family, to adopt to completely different style of life. And not losing the language -- this is very important. But also to remember their past and this will help to go in the future,” she added.
One of the Center’s first events is a trio of Sunday concerts by Russian composers at the Koreshan Historic Art Hall in Estero. The first concert begins at 4 p.m. on Feb. 26.
