“Every winter storm, ice storm, hurricane, earthquake, wildfire, flood -- you name it -- impacted Wal-Mart either directly through its physical facility or its employees, its customers or potentially impacted its supply chain,” he said. “It was our job to figure out they were affected and then take the appropriate actions.”

Koon attended the Governor’s 25th Annual Hurricane Conference earlier this month where he got to know emergency managers from around the state. He’s also been visiting local emergency operations centers.
