Cellist Matt Haimovitz performs tonight at BIG Arts on Sanibel. Haimovitz lives in Montreal and teaches music at McGill University there. The thirty-seven year old made his professional debut at age 13 with the Israel Philharmonic under the direction of famed conductor Zubin Mehta. Since then he’s become known for performing cutting edge compositions as well as the classical repertoire – and taking his Cello to some unusual venues.
