As thousands of immigrants across Florida rallied for immigration reform yesterday - Centennnial Park in Ft. Myers was the site of a rally against illegal immigration. An estimated 3 to 4 hundred people attended. Last month when 80 thousand immigrants rights activists turned out in Ft. Myers for what was the largest rally of it’s kind in the state. Organizers of this counter demonstration wanted to show there are other voices to be heard in this region. This is David Griffin.
“What I’ve noticed as a parent of teenagers is its virtually impossible for a teenager to find a entry level minimum wage job – you have – service industry –restaurants, they seem to be fully staffed with brown skinned people – who don’t speak English.”
The rally to oppose illegal immigration was organized primarily by conservative talk show host Mandy Connel of WINK Radio in Ft. Myers.
