And how do readers react to all of this? We’ll speak with someone from the News-press about their Comics Page, and how important comics are to people’s daily lives. We’ll also try to look into the future of comics in newspapers…as many papers continue to shrink.

Over the years corrective eye surgery has come a long way. Thanks to the latest laser technologies people who’ve been nearly blind all their lives can see without glasses in just minutes. Many, if not most are pleased by the experience and outcome, but there are risks, including possible blindness in some rare cases. We’re joined by Dr. Jonathan Frantz, who’s worked with some of the pioneers in the field of laser corrective surgery during his long career, to talk about where the field of laser eye surgery has been…and how much better it might be in the future.

Everyone around former Fort Myers resident Jeremey Hunsicker growing up thought he could be the lead singer of Journey…but they never thought he’d almost pull it off. Hunsicker – who now lives in Virginia – recently spent time with the band in San Francisco singing the classics and writing new songs. He was even offered the front man position...though it didn't work out in the end. In the coming years Florida Gulf Coast University will be getting much of its daily power from solar panels. It’s an attempt by the university to reduce its carbon footprint. Florida Power & Light also recently announced it's going to build a massive solar array in DeSoto County. These projects are part of Governor Charlie Crist’s call for more re-usable energy sources in Florida. We’ll talk with someone from DeSoto County about the new solar array, as well as someone from FGCU, to try to find out how soon the rest of us could be living on the sun’s energy.

In 2006 two Daytona Beach Municipal Water Treatment Plant workers were killed in a tragic explosion. The incident brought to light the fact that many state, county and municipal employees lacked occupational safety and health coverage. That may be changing soon. We’ll talk with a member of the state's Environmental Health and Safety office about some of the changes workers can expect, and some of the dangers they face not having the proper coverage.

For the last eight years two Florida Gulf Coast University professors have taken students to the Dominican Republic during spring break. A new photo exhibit highlighting their work with underprivileged children is on display at the Arts for ACT gallery in downtown Fort Myers. The photographer and one of the professors talk about the photography and the education, plus how the art itself has turned into a benefit.
