1. BIKE 7 FRISBEE
There are lots of places that you can go biking in Southwest Florida and more and more new community developments have included bike paths. You can find out about some of the park facilities by visiting some of the following websites:
www.leeparks.org
www.colliergov.net/parks/
www.charlottecountyfl.com/parks/
As for playing Frisbee – well all you need is an open space, like a park, and a Frisbee! Here’s a game that you can play with 4 players. It’s called DISCATHON
What to do:
Create a course with natural objects, like trees or bushes; use arrow signs to mark out the exact path of the course.
How to play!
Each player must throw their Frisbee so that it follows the course. The player does not have to be on the course, only the Frisbee. Every time the Frisbee lands, the player must pick it up and throw it again. The winner is the player whose Frisbee is the first to cross the finish line!
2. HOPSCOTCH
Rules of the game:
You will need a stone as a marker. First: use chalk to draw 8 squares on the pavement something like the image on the right
Player#1 throws the marker onto the first square, hops over that square to land on the double square with both feet. When there are two squares together the player must have a foot in each square. Players must hop on single squares and hopscotch to the top, turn and come back down again. The player picks up the marker from the square on which it rests and then hops onto that square. The next player does the same thing, until each player has a turn. Each turn, a player throws their marker onto the next square up from the last. If you stand on a line or put both feet down when you should be hopping, then you lose a turn and you have to repeat that number. The winner is the first one to complete the game!
3. HULA HOOP
Try to hula hoop walking along like Sammi! Or even on your arm like Alexx! And even just doing the regular hula hoop like Kassidy is doing, is lots of fun! And by the way, this is GREAT exercise!
Hula hoops are believed to have originated in Egypt where they were made out of bamboo, wood or vines. The name “hula” was given to them after British sailors noticed the similarities between the movements of hula dancers in the Hawaiian islands and the movements of people in Europe using the hoops! The modern era hula hoops were made of plastic, by a toy company called Wham-O and were launched in California in 1958!
4. JUMP ROPE
There are lots of songs that you can make up to jump rope to. Here is the song that we used in this video – you just have to substitute your friend’s name for Kassidy’s!I like oranges, grapefruits too,
I’d like Kassidy to jump rope too!
If I jump too much my shoes get worn,
I’ll get out on the month that I was born!

5. PIRATES
First make islands with hula hoops, cushions, frisbees or mats. Everything else is the ocean!
Rules of the game!
Choose your first pirate! The pirate can ONLY catch the other players when they are in the ocean. If you are caught by the pirate, you become a pirate too! Use scarves or ribbon to tie around your head when you become a pirate! Everyone has to KEEP jumping from island to island! You’re only safe when you’re on an island! Have fun!!
6. RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT
Rules of the Game!
One person is the RED LIGHT and they stand with their back to the players. When Red Light says GREEN LIGHT everyone has to try and creep up behind him/her to touch his/her back. RED LIGHT can say “red light” at any time and turn around – if he/she sees anyone moving – that player’s out! The first person to touch the Red Light gets be RED LIGHT next time. RED LIGHT WINS if he/she gets everyone out before they can touch him!
7. SIMON SAYS
Rules of the game!
Choose a Simon!
The person who’s Simon gets to tell everyone what to do!
But if Simon doesn’t say “Simon Says” before the action, anyone who does it is out!
For example:
“Simple Simon says jump up and down” – if everyone does the action they are fine.
But if the person who is Simon just says - “Lie down” and you lie down – you’re out!
8. VOLLEYBALL
The rules of the game for outdoor Beach volleyball are as follows:
The object of the game is to send the ball over the net so that your opponent cannot manage to hit it back! The team has three hits for returning the ball, including the block touch.
The ball is put in play with a service; hit by the server over the net to the opponents. The rally continues until the ball is grounded on the playing court, goes “out” if a team fails to return it properly.
In Beach volleyball, the team winning a rally scores a point (Rally Point System). When the receiving team wins a rally, it gains a point and the right to serve. The serving player must be alternated every time this occurs.
