Habitat:Tolerates sun or shade and likes well drained soil. Prefers acidic soil, but will tolerate a wide range of pH.

Description:The Maypop's creeping stems can be used as groundcover or climb over fences and shrubs. Its showy, bluish-purple, fringed flowers bloom most of the year, and it bears an edible greenish-yellow fruit. This gorgeous vine is also appropriately called "Purple Passionflower". It is the only host plant for Florida's state butterfly, the Zebra Longwing. It is also a host plant for the Gulf Fritillary butterfly, and an excellent food source for many other butterfly species.
