Silver Buttonwood
(Conocarpus erectus)

Type:  Tree

Size: 20 - 35 feet tall

Zone: 10a, 10b

Habitat:  Prefers to be on the coast, but can be planted inland. Will thrive in dry soil, while tolerating a wide pH range. Needs full sun or partial shade.

Description:
Its name perfectly describes the color of this beautiful tree. It grows slowly, but a mature tree will have a large canopy. For orchid lovers, this species' rough bark serves as a good growing place for orchids and bromeliads. A strong tap root and multiple trunks also helps this tree stand up to strong storms or hurricanes.
