Florida Privet
(Forestiera segregata)

Type:  Small tree or shrub

Size: 10 to 15 feet tall

Zone: 8b,9a,9b,10a,10b

Habitat:  Does well on the coast, but prefers partial shade to sunny exposure. Also prefers moist, acidic soil but can handle dry conditions.

Description:
With dense foliage and greenish yellow flowers, this plant makes a great home for nesting birds. Its density also helps it withstand strong winds from storms or hurricanes. If it is blown over, this plant will recover quickly on its own. Florida privet is semi-deciduous, which means it will lose its leaves in December, but will get new growth almost immediately.
