We’ll examine how budget constraints have forced districts to cut their foreign language programs, their art, theater and music programs and even their physical education programs and what impact these losses have on students. How are we supposed to be preparing students to succeed in a 21st century global society without a foreign language study?
Will the next Congress reauthorize the No Child Left Behind law? What kinds of changes will be made? Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie both urge changes to the current law which have many people believing it’s too inflexible and had led to the narrowing of curriculum in public schools as well as to lower academic standards. We’ll look at the current law and what it means for Florida.
