WGCU Radio Adds Two National Shows to its Saturday Lineup

Ft. Myers, Florida…WGCU Public Radio will add two national shows to its Saturday lineup on WGCU FM (90.1/91.7 FM) effective Saturday, August 27, 2016.
Joining the Saturday schedule is The Moth Radio Hour. This Peabody Award-winning program explores the stories behind the stories. Each hour mixes humorous and heartbreaking tales told with honesty, bravery, and wit. The Moth Radio Hour is heard on more than 400 radio stations across the country. The program’s concept began on a back porch in Georgia, where a circle of friends would gather to hear and tell stories while watching moths, attracted to the light, come through a hole in the porch screen. Founder George Dawes Green moved himself and the event to New York City, where it has occupied many venues but stayed true to its presentation of true stories told without notes with emerging or established writers, performers and artists. The Moth Radio Hour, distributed by PRX, will air Saturday nights at 6 pm.
Following The Moth Radio Hour is Bullseye distributed by NPR. Bullseye promises interviews with interesting and creative people, current culture stories and irreverent comedy. Recent shows have featured Nikki Glaser, a comedian and host of the Comedy Central series Not Safe with Nikki Glaser; comedian Dave Holmes, writer at large for Esquire Magazine, who talks about growing up gay in the 80s with no real role models to look up to. Holmes and host Thorn also discuss working for MTV and Holmes’ new book, Party of One: A Memoir in 21 Songs. Other recent guests have included Chuck Klosterman, W. Kamau Bell, Keegan-Michael Key, Tituss Burgess, Mary Roach, John C. Reilly and Rashida Jones. Bulleseye will air on Saturdays from 7 to 8 pm.

WGCU is replacing A Prairie Home Companion following the retirement of its host Garrison Keillor with The Moth Radio Hour and Bullseye.
