Arts Edition - Photographers Dennis Church and William Hofer / Maestro Jack Everly

GL051712thumbThe In One Instant Gallery of Photography in downtown Fort Myers has unveiled a new artist cooperative format.  We’ll meet two local photographers featured in the gallery’s current exhibition:  Dennis Church and William Hofer. 

We’ll also talk with the principal pops conductor for the Naples Philharmonic OrchestraJack Everly, as he prepares to conduct the National Symphony Orchestra’s 2012 National Memorial Day concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol before an audience of hundreds of thousands.  The concert, honoring service men and women who have died for our country will be viewed by millions of people as one of PBS’s most watched programs.

Submission Guidelines: If you would like your book reviewed by Linda Fasulo, here are some guidelines to keep in mind. The book should be based in Florida or the author should have significant Florida ties. It does not have to be a new release but it should have literary merit. We are not accepting self-published or self-help books at this time. If your book meets these requirements, please provide us with a review copy.

With The Wild Things

"With the Wild Things" is hosted by wildlife biologist Dr. Jerry Jackson and produced by the Whitaker Center in the College of Arts & Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University. Funded by the Environmental Education Grant Program of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, With the Wild Things is a one-minute look at a particular environmental theme. Dr. Jackson takes you through your backyard, and Southwest Florida’s beaches, swamps and preserves to learn about “the wild things.”

 
Naples Council on World Affairs Lecture Series

The Naples Council on World Affairs’ annual lecture series brings distinguished scholars and statesmen to Southwest Florida. WGCU-FM records and broadcasts the lectures throughout the year. The Naples Council on World Affairs is one of 90 World Affairs Councils of America. With more than 2200 members, the non-profit, non-partisan Naples Council is the fifth largest council in the system. The Council works to promote a better understanding of the issues that face the world today.

In March 2010, WGCU FM ceased airing Vernon’s Views. 

For 13 years, fifth generation Floridian, Vernon Peeples’ graced the airwaves of WGCU FM with his commentaries focusing on Florida history. From politics to economic growth, Vernon’s Views brought a historical perspective to help you understand Florida. 

Vernon Peeples is the author of "History of Punta Gorda and Charlotte Harbor Area". He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1982-1996.
