The International Art Therapy Organization says art therapy encourages self-expression, self-discovery and emotional growth. It’s been used in the treatment of mental illness for almost 100 years. As a form of psychotherapy, art therapy often involves both the creation of art and the discovery of its meaning. It can be used to visualize the emotions one cannot talk about. We’ll meet three Florida art therapists to learn how the creative process itself becomes the therapy.
